Assistant Director - Affordable Housing Programme Management:


A bit about the role:

The Assistant Director for Affordable Housing Programme Management will play an important role in the Affordable Housing Grants team.

Working closely with the Director of Affordable Housing, you will be joining a large and highly experienced team, who are committed to the delivery of more affordable housing.


You will lead a large team responsible for the strategic and operational framework for grant investment in affordable housing acting as the guardian for the programme.

You will provide stewardship internally and externally to drive successful programme and performance management.

You will work flexibly and collaboratively, taking a considered, innovative and creative approach to support the programme to deliver successfully.

You will hold a key influencing and engagement role with Government departments, business stakeholders and the wider housing sector. You will be a confident and strategic communicator and be highly skilled in building close collaborative relationships.

A bit about you:


You'll bring significant experience of strategic programme and performance management with the ability to manage large budgets and multiple projects.

You will be able to show your strong leadership skills in both people and project management and be able to balance multiple and changing workstreams often to tight deadlines.

You will be a strategic thinker being able to design and develop new initiatives and swiftly operationalise them.


You will have a strong background in business development and planning being able to progress ideas to action with excellent project management skills and produce high quality business and delivery plans.

With this you will be able to manage a large volume of internal and external stakeholders at a senior level and be able to navigate both organisational and Government priorities.


You will enjoy working within a fast-paced environment, turn around objectives with efficiency and accuracy and handle changing and expansive portfolios.

You will also be an excellent communicator and be able to negotiate and persuade with confidence.


You will have significant experience and expansive knowledge of the affordable housing sector and possess a strong understanding of the key current policy issues effecting affordable housing and regeneration in England.

You'll be comfortable supporting the sector, both new and existing partners, with the operational requirements linked to grant funding and with complex delivery issues.
