Factory Supervisor - Fabrication to join them at their Wakefield HQ

Their Wakefield factory is a demanding, but dynamic and fun environment where you can enjoy the benefit of diversification of products and multiple flows of work

This role is paying
£45K per year + Company Profit Share


As the
Factory Supervisor - Fabrication, you will be the main link between their production assembly disciplined shop floor team and their management team.

You will be responsible for the team's day to day activities, ensuring smooth and efficient performance and achievement of goals.

Handling the day-to-day challenges and work, managing and motivating the production assembly team to ensure all work is executed to plan, within man hour targets and allocated cost budgets, whilst ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.


Your duties will include:

  • Give toolbox talks and actively raise safe systems of work including risk assessments, embracing the company's core value of 'Safety First'.
  • Investigate near misses, accidents, and quality issues with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Supervise the activities of the fabrication team with direct accountability for labour, materials, plant, and equipment.
  • Supervise the activities of the factory inspection team with direct accountability for labour, quality assurance and all matters of inspection.
  • Oversee quality inspection reports, from raising, issuing, addressing to closing out.
  • Monitor stock levels of consumables and equipment.
  • Chair weekly workshop floor meetings, motivating and driving the team, working to a project plan and budget.
  • Ensure legible audit trail in line with defined quality and manufacturing procedures, e.g. weld maps, weld logs and root cards.
  • Ensure the team are completing the necessary stage manufacturing documentation which is mandatory for the compilation of data books.
  • Conduct inspection of equipment and monitor quality and service performance, duly raising and addressing any nonconformance.
  • Maintenance of tools and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
  • Provide technical advice, support, and mentorship to the fabrication team.
  • Act as an assigned trainer and mentor to develop and maintain internal standards on inhouse procedures and job specific skills, including but not limited to new starters, apprentices and contractors.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in methodology to increase productivity.
  • Contribute effectively to production and planning meetings, working collaboratively with other departments to ensure OTIF delivery.
  • Highly organised selfstarter with the ability to plan and prioritise a demanding workload in line with customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Experienced supervising teams of 20+
  • Experienced in the effective organisation and planning of projects to meet timelines and budgets.
  • Time served fabricator with demonstrable experience in a manufacturing background.
  • Pressure vessel, economiser and heat exchanger experience is highly advantageous.
  • Experience of working to requirements of Clients' Specifications and UK, European, & American Codes and Standards, i.e.
BS EN 1090, EN 12952, EN13345, EN 13480, PD 5500, ASME Section I and Section VIII.

  • Experience of working with a range of different types and grades of materials carbon steels, chrome molybdenum, austenitic stainless steels, and nickel alloys.
  • Aware of the different welding processes typically applied for welding pressure components, pipework, platework, and structural steelwork.
  • Familiar with NDT of welded components of the typical NDT methods applied.
  • Reads and understands technical drawings to a high level.
