Job Purpose

Principle Duties & Accountabilities

The specific accountabilities of this flexible role may alter from time to time to meet the needs of the company, but accountabilities will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed below:

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and
• Procedures
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Operate appropriate equipment to put together structures or parts with a great deal of precision.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semiautomatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety requirements.
• To comply with specific Risk Assessments and method statements
• Supervise and train welder's assistants.
• To adhere to Company Policies, Codes of Practice and carry out the work in a safe and effective manner.
• Attend weekly/monthly team briefings as required.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and that actions taken do not endanger yourself or others.
• Cooperate with management and ensure all works are carried out to a highquality
• Wear all PPE as required by company procedure.
• Inspect and report daily any defects to tools and equipment directly to the Manufacturing Manager
• Report any hazards, near misses, accidents, incidents as soon as possible to the Manufacturing Manager
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
• To carry out any other duties appropriate for this post

Role Demands

The role requires the post holder to be physically fit and able to lift and carry equipment following Health & Safety procedure.

The role may require working antisocial hours


PERSON SPECIFICATION
Level of Knowledge & Experience


Essential:

• Welding and fabrication knowledge
• Awareness of various metals and welding techniques
• Proven experience as welder
• Using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
• Use of electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Fabrication of products as per design and specification
• Professional Certification such as
• Level 2 in Welding Techniques and Welding Skills or
• Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding Engineering Technology or
• T-Level in Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control or
• Welding apprenticeship or
• Any equivalent field
• Knowledge of relative safety standards
• Team Player

Advantageous but not essential:

• First Aider certificate

Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Deftness and attention to detail
• Supervisory skills
• Mathematical skills to carry out calculations to determine the dimension and configuration of a welding project
• Problemsolving skills
• Manual Dexterity to operate and utilize a range of power and hand tools in carrying out welding activities
• Ability to gain trust and respect of team members and customers to develop relationships
• Working independently to plan and organize daily tasks
• Good communication skills

£12.00-£13.00 per hour
