We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Peripatetic Support Worker to join our Homelessness service in Tunbridge Wells/ Gravesend.

Peripatetic Support Workers work within Look Ahead are required to be an experienced Peripatetic Support Workers who provides flexible seamless cover for gaps in our Support Worker provision across our West and North Kent homelessness services.

Peripatetic Support Workers will provide full support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of those customers.

In some services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional, and social care.

You will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living and encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

What you'll do:


  • Deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer. In some services, this will include prompting around personal and physical care as appropriate.
  • Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere.
  • Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation. This may include cooking basic meals for customers.
  • Support planning and risk management of customers.
  • Ensuring housing management activities are effectively carried out e.g. ensuring housing benefit is applied for promptly, ensuring void rooms are able to be re let quickly etc.
  • Ensuring customer information is updated accurately and in a timely way on Look Aheads IT systems.
  • Carry out security duties to ensure the safety of the customers and premises.

What you'll bring:


  • Easily able to quickly understand the requirements of each service to deliver effective Support Worker cover.
  • Flexible in approach and happy to cover Support Worker role and hours at any Service as needed.
  • Is fundamentally calm and resilient, does not let emotion adversely affect them or obscure their judgement.
  • Exudes a warm friendly presence and open behaviour.
  • Ability to cope positively with challenging and diverse behaviour.
  • Has a practical and logical mind and is naturally well organised.
  • Thrives on change and enjoys dynamic diverse environments.
  • Is confident and resilient with high levels of selfesteem.

Essential:


  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or experience within charity/social care sector.
  • Relevant previous experience as a Support Worker.
  • Good level of written and spoken English.
  • Car Driver

Desirable:


  • Relevant specialism experience.
