We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Destination Management Support Officer.

The full time permanent post sits within the Regeneration and Place Service Area of Newport City Council.

Destination Management / Development concerns tourism and events.

Key is the promotion of the destination for visitors and residents alike, to a variety of markets, as well as product development and improvement of the visitor experience to support the economy and wider wellbeing.

As part of the strategy to improve the vibrancy and profile of the City of Newport, the team is also responsible for delivery of a suite of events, including support to the Council's own corporate functions.

As a result flexible working over some weekends, and evenings may be required.

Experience in destination/tourism marketing and events delivery is therefore desirable.

Work will involve liaising with other service areas of the Council, political members and external partners including local businesses. Working in partnership therefore is a significant part of the role.

You will be part of a small team and will need to be able to work unsupervised.

The role requires experience in social media marketing, good general administrative IT skills as well as knowledge of database management to support on-going work and programmes.
