Description
Lambton House Limited is a 57-bedroom family run care home for people with residential and dementia needs.


Our maintenance team positively promote excellent health and safety standards within and around the home, supporting the Home Manager to maintain a safe environment.


As a Maintenance Operative you will make sure our residents live in an environment that's proactively inspected and brilliantly maintained.

You will carry out audits and make sure records are kept up to date.


Reporting to the Registered Manager, your ability to form positive relationships with residents, their families and professional colleagues is vital.

Role and responsibilities_


We are looking for a Maintenance Operative with solid experience in general maintenance, building, DIY, cleaning, painting, plumbing and drainage.

You will also need technical knowledge of mechanical, heating, fire safety and electrical systems, as well as ideally some IT skills.

Lambton House Limited is set in large grounds with a sensory garden to the rear of the main building.

This role requires garden maintenance throughout the year with an emphasis on the summer months when residents and families enjoy our clean and tidy outdoor spaces.


You will be responsible for the upkeep of the Care Home and surrounding grounds and undertake planned maintenance of the home ensuring excellent first Impressions to all who visit.

You will maintain the homes exterior including pathways and driveways are clear unobstructed and safe.


You will ensure plants are kept hydrated, flowerbeds and potted plants are tendered and grassed areas kept tidy to enhance 1st impressions.


You will ensure that external lighting and signs inside and outside the home are clear visible and in good order.

You will be adept at assembling and installing new equipment to the home.

You will be competent in fault finding and basic repairs to all equipment, for example
- catering and laundering machines.


Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and therefore it is important that you can recognise the signs which may indicate possible abuse, harm or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are any concerns.

All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training in associated areas.

You also have the ability to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.

Qualifications, Skillsets and Personal attributes -_

  • A compassionate and caring attitude.
  • Dementia awareness and relevant training/qualifications are desirable.
  • A committed and organised approach. A clear thinking considered and thoughtful decision maker. Ability to problem solve daily.
  • Excellent effective communicator.
  • A high standard of written English and computerbased skills. This role has a requirement to accurately input, update and maintain company information and records on a weekly/ monthly basis, to a clear standard that will satisfy external governing bodies.
  • Confident and enthusiastic.
