HR Consultant (12-month FTC)
Caledonian Sleeper Limited, Glasgow City Centre based office
Full time 37.5 hours per week
£45,000 - £50,000 + Benefits


We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated HR Consultant to join our team on a 12-month fixed team contract to support some exciting people transformation projects.

The key purpose of this role is to support the Head of HR and the broader business as the Caledonian Sleeper business transitions into the public sector.


Main Accountabilities:

Lead and contribute to key HR projects, such as developing new HR policies and procedures, shaping pay guidelines and success factors, supporting line manager capability, optimising organisational structures, recruitment, and talent attraction

Contribute to the development and delivery of HR strategies


Provide pro-active day-to-day HR support to managers and employees on a range of issues post transition into the public sector including contractual terms, HR policies and processes.

Lead on Performance, Absence and Capability Management cases, liaising with relevant parties such as Occupational Health and HR Shared Services team

Acts as a coach to drive and embed a culture of performance management through close partnership with people managers.

Analyse HR metrics and provide insights to the broader business to inform decision making

Support employee engagement activities across the business teams

Maintain excellent customer service in all areas of work.

Comply with all CSL policies, financial regulations and all HR policies and procedures including Health & Safety and Equality & Diversity


What you'll need to do the role:
Good standard of education and evidence of continued professional development is essential

Level 3 CIPD minimum

You will be confident working with HR Systems, Excel and other Microsoft Office packages and will have a strong attention to detail

Demonstrable understanding of managing change, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, other relevant HR projects coupled with a good understanding of employment law and practice

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a varied workload

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Good organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure deadlines are met

Ability to create, build and maintain relationships with internal key stakeholders

Willing and able to travel on occasion where appropriate
