We are excited to be working with a client on a communications opportunity in the transport industry. We are looking for a Internal Communications Advisor to join the communications team, reporting to the Head of Communications.


The role:


  • Deliver communications strategy by leading on the planning and delivery of internal communications and strategic campaigns.
  • Lead on some leadership conferences as part of a wider team.
  • Manage effective internal communication channels to reach colleagues with timely news and information e.g. briefings, news hub, meetings/events, intranet, Yammer.
  • Lead on production of the company magazine and news hub with an agency.
  • Lead on content planning.
  • Act as a main point of contact between business leads and the communications team, providing professional communications guidance. This is a complex, multistakeholder environment.
  • Be a core member of the communications working group and business steering groups, working closely with roles responsible for external communications.
  • Be part of the crisis communications team.
  • Devise, develop and deliver content and creative assets such as photography, video, case studies, factsheets and other relevant material.
  • Maintain and update the ARL brand, narrative and assets.
  • Reports to the head of communications and is part of a team of four.
  • Hybrid working, with time spent working in the office, out in the field and from home.

About you...

  • Proven experience in internal communications, with knowledge of external communications.
  • UK rail industry knowledge and experience is an advantage, but not necessary.
  • Commercial understanding.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Good communication skills, including strong writing expertise.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, with experience of influencing.
  • A 'can do' approach to problem solving including consulting with appropriate stakeholders to arrive at an answer, knowing when to escalate for advice.
  • Ability to build indepth understanding of complex issues and communicate these effectively.
  • Confidence in dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity in a constantly changing and challenging environment.
  • Proven ability to manage own work whilst working as part of a team.
  • Resilience and a willingness to work flexibly and quickly and able to manage a challenging workload calmly and with mínimal support.
