financial services audit department works internationally to provide seamless, cross-border services to our clients.

The banking group covers clients such as asset management, emerging banks and UK operations of large international banks.


Job Purpose As an Audit Quality Team Senior Manager specialising on the banking sector, you will deliver the foundations for audit quality in the form of policies, procedures, templates, guidance and training in line with the Group Mazars audit approach and relevantauditing, ethical and accounting standards.


Role & Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for assisting in the development of banking guidance, tools and templates to support the growing audit service line.
  • Performing hot reviews on a number of banking clients in AQR scope.
  • Responding to queries coming to the helpdesk from our banking teams, including review of extended audit reports and nonstandard engagement letters and audit reports.
  • Preparing and updating master packs including sector specific packs.
  • Building strong working relationships with audit teams.
  • Leading meetings with senior members of the firm to discuss review findings.
  • Ensuring the Mazars Audit Platform, auditing software and templates are compliant with auditing standards and methodology and identifying updates and emerging issues to be addressed.
  • Assist the Audit Quality Support Team in the delivery of technical audit trainings including banking specific trainings.
  • Assist the Quality Monitoring team on carrying out 'cold' reviews of completed engagements, to evaluate the quality of the work and compliance with applicable auditing and ethical standards, and the firm's methodologies.
  • Assesses and produces high quality work in line with the Firm's policy and processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the Audit Quality Support Team on ad hoc nonsector specific projects.
  • Helps manage the Audit Quality Banking Team and assist the Audit Quality Directors and the Head of Audit Quality in providing support and guidance to the banking teams.


This is a high-profile role and one which contributes significantly to the continuous improvement in the quality of the firm's audit and assurance work.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager or Audit Senior Manager with recent UK audit experience with the following skills and attributes:

  • ACA / CA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualification
  • Relevant banking sector audit experience.
  • Extensive working knowledge of external audits, in particular audits of listed/PIE/regulated entities.
  • Strong auditing and accounting technical knowledge.
  • A passion for quality and helping engagement teams to develop their knowledge and audit skills.
  • Experience of senior stakeholder engagement and dealing with audit partners in discussions around review findings.
  • Proven ability to provide clear directions and constructive feedback, including the willingness to challenge and influence more senior individuals and peers.
  • Experience of managing, training and coaching an audit team.
  • Team leadership.
  • Experience of performing 'hot' or 'cold' audit file reviews is desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience of developing new initiatives and methodologies.
  • Takes ownership of projects, effectively delegates to others within the team and takes responsibility for quality control.
