GSL Education are currently looking to appoint a

Cover Supervisor for our client Secondary Schools in

York, North Yorkshire. If you are considering a career in the education sector and want to gain experience before committing, or are a Teaching Assistant looking for a new, challenging and rewarding position, GSL Education would like to hear from you.

As a Cover Supervisor your main responsibilities will be to:

Supervisor classes across the curriculum in the event of a teacher absence.
Ensure that pupils are engaging in preplanned work.
Manage pupil behaviour to create a safe and positive learning environment.
Liaise with other staff members in regard to work being set and ensure you have all suitable resources.
Provide feedback to the class teacher on pupil attendance, engagement, and completion of work tasks.

To be a successful Cover Supervisor you should:

Hold an NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher or be a Graduate considering a career in education.
Have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies (training can be provided).
Have the ability and willingness to undertake additional training and courses to enhance your professional development.
Empathies with young people and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
Have the ability to use your own initiative to work flexibly and be able to respond to different situations.
