Full / Part timeBased at Glenfield Hospital (adult ECMO) / Leicester Royal Infirmary (neonatal, infant & paediatric ECMO)
We are looking for extremely enthusiastic, flexible & well motivated intensive care nurses to join our dynamic ECMO team to provide expert patient care and continuous surveillance & management of the extracorporeal life support system during clinical operations on our adult intensive care unit & paediatric intensive care unit.
There are four posts across the service - neonatal, infant & paediatric ECMO based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) and adult ECMO based at Glenfield Hospital (GH).
We have just been awarded a significant investment to expand our service, so this is a fantastic time to join our team and begin or continue your journey as a specialist nurse in ECMO.
The post holder will be an expert clinical practitioner, be required to work shifts, undertake conventional & mobile ECMO transport and be an enthusiastic integral member of our well established and committed team; providing and supervising the delivery of excellent quality care.
The post holder will be responsive to the needs of patients, carers and the public and be an ambassador for this nationally designated service.
Opportunities to work solely within adult ECMO or paediatric ECMO would be considered, alongside part-time and flexible working hours.

About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust: )
- Under the guidance and supervision of the ECMO Programme Director and Coordinator provide continuous surveillance and management of the Extra Corporeal Life Support System during clinical operation.
- Provide specialist care and to act as a resource for other ECMO Specialists.
- Ensure the maintenance of high standards of care on a daily basis.
- Participate in the development of a skilled and effective workforce.
- Work in conjunction with Senior ECMO Specialists to support the process of change.
- Be responsible for ensuring own personal development.
