This is a full-time hybrid post which will include travel throughout Inspire's network of 60 libraries, plus a regular day per week at Nottinghamshire Archives.

Job Purpose
To deliver the agreed business plan for Heritage service offers throughout the libraries network.

To lead, create and plan the library heritage public offer to inspire people to read, research, learn and enjoy Nottinghamshire's heritage.


Key Responsibilities
***•To be responsible for planning, devising and curating an innovative heritage outreach programme focusing on the library customers.


  • To curate the local studies collections throughout the library network, liaising with colleagues in Nottinghamshire Archives to ensure the collections are appropriately stored and described.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, volunteers, Inspire members and authors, poets, artists and creatives to develop and deliver the public offer.
  • To create and contribute to relevant plans, ensuring the setting and delivery of appropriate targets and standards.
  • To engage with relevant stakeholders and partners, participating in national networks to ensure best practice, continuous improvement and innovation is fully exploited.
  • To work collaboratively with heritage colleagues in Nottinghamshire Archives to develop stock and collections and engage the public with them.
The post holder will work in accordance with all Inspire policies and procedures, Inspire Brand guidelines, Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) contractual requirements, and professional best practice


_Education and Knowledge Required for the role _

  • Graduate/postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information science.
  • A current understanding of best practice across the arts, culture, heritage and libraries sectors.
  • Good working knowledge of the principles and practice of people, performance, risk and project management
  • Knowledge of working to statutory and legislative standards

_Skills and Experience _

  • Ability to plan into the medium and long term, whilst ensuring current programme is delivered successfully.
  • Experience and ability to match heritage professionals, with local audiences and Inspire teams.
  • Bidding for funding and initiating projects and partnerships.

_Role Dimensions _

  • To programme and project manage countywide activities relating to programming and delivery of the heritage offer in libraries, working creatively with partners and staff to deliver excellent experiences for customers.
  • To curate the local studies collections throughout the library network and ensure appropriate descriptions, and encourage increased access.
