  • Storage of goods.

  • Manage a small warehouse team on occasion when required.

  • The accurate receipt of goods in and the despatch of products.
  • General warehouse operations in line with Company Strategy, Values, and Policies.
  • Responsible for supervising and maintaining warehouse disciplines and Health & Safety best practice including hygiene and security.

Full Job Description
HarveyJames International Ltd are suppliers of Skincare, Beauty and Cosmetic products throughout the UK and export markets. We specialise in FMCG, high volume products. Our customers range from international pharmacy chains, large volume retailers and small wholesalers. Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, HJI supplies goods from our central dedicated warehouse.


We are looking for a Key Warehouse Operative to work with our Operations Director, to be hands on in our growing warehouse operation.


The Role
You will be involved hands on in loading/unloading goods and picking/packing orders.


You will ensure safe and efficient operation of all warehouse activities, and support the business across various areas including logistics and sales.

Driving operational improvements, you will be involved in the storage and despatch of all inventory on the premises. You will maintain the accurate receipt of goods in and the despatch of goods.


Responsibilities and Duties - include but are not limited to:

  • Picking and packing customer orders.
  • Loading and unloading of pallets and loose cartons.
  • Overseeing general warehouse operations in line with Company Strategy, Values, and Policies.
  • Responsible for supervising and maintaining warehouse disciplines and Health & Safety best practice including hygiene and security.
  • Undertake general warehouse duties including operating forklifts and pallet trucks.

Oversee all warehouse activity, including:


  • Ensure stock is correctly located.
  • Management of essential warehouse materials, including pallets, wrapping materials and machinery supplies, ensuring costs are minimised and well controlled.
  • Keep the warehouse areas safe and tidy at all times.
  • Conduct a monthly stock take, ensuring speedy and accurate counting and reporting.
  • Hold daily briefings with the Operations Director to allocate tasks and discuss workload.
  • Complete ad hoc tasks on a daily or weekly basis as required.

Goods in & goods out

  • You will be hands on in picking and packing of orders.
  • You will be hands on in unloading and loading of goods.
  • Safe and efficient container destuffing, utilising temporary and inhouse labour.
  • Accurate palletisation of stock received.
  • Stock put away and allocated into correct locations.
  • Accurate booking in of inventory with relevant documentation in place and completed to the correct standard.
  • Managing all outbound deliveries and working closely with hauliers.
  • Safe and efficient loading, ensuring loads are secure and all relevant documentation is in place.

Yard Management

  • Ensure the safe movement and operation of HGVs, courier vehicles, and employee vehicles in and around the site, including the yard.
  • Keep the yard and external areas safe and tidy at all times.
  • Lay rock salt during winter conditions to keep the yards and car parks in operation.

Waste removal

  • Ensure that waste is removed from warehouse areas in a timely manner, and is emptied into the correct waste stream bins.

Essential requirements

  • Hands on experience in a warehouse environment.
  • A positive, 'can do' attitude.
  • Honest, trustworthy and hard working.
  • Flexible approach, able to embrace change and accept responsibility.
  • Work well independently and part of a team.
  • Counterbalance FLT licence and PPT Licences.
  • Effective time management, prioritising, and multitasking skills.
  • MS office skills in Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • An ability to think and lead strategically.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • A natural problem solver, able to find solutions outside of the status quo.
  • Able to manage work within specific deadlines.
  • Right to work within the UK.
Salary £24,000 - £27,000 dependant on experience.
