Description

Kneesworth House is a 155 bed mental health hospital situated in Cambridgeshire (on the borders of Hertfordshire) with good commuting access to / from London.

The hospital has a full pathway of care including medium, low secure, locked rehabilitation and open recovery wards situated across the site.


Responsibilities:


Manages, oversees and undertakes a variety of general maintenance jobs as required (and defined in the Appendix), with particular focus on ensuring that patient related jobs are completed as a priority.


  • Prioritises the work of the Maintenance team and maintains the Work Request Log.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a well decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the unit, in line with quality standards, and follows work processes which comply with statutory regulations.
  • Identifies damage, faults and other related issues and prioritises their repair or replacement whilst ensuring that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations.
  • Receives and acts upon information concerning faults or damage.
  • Ensuring the team is working efficiently, planning workloads, ensuring materials available to complete the task.
Responsible for establishing local relationships with contracts, ensuring appropriate checks are completed and are the first point of contact

Ensuring that use of the helpdesk is as a backup or emergency service and not a core maintenance resource.

Certifies purchase orders and invoices ensuring that any spends are appropriately preauthorised and within budget.


Under direction, sources and collates capital expenditure project costings and then locally project manages as agreed with the Support Services Manager.

Provide coaching and guidance to the maintenance team


Individuals will not be required, nor should they, carry out any works that require a certification unless they are in possession of an in date and correct certificate.


Qualifications:

A relevant NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience within the building/Plumbing trades

  • Effective communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate commercial and financial awareness
  • Good computer skills (MS Office package)
