Our client is an innovative biotechnology company based outside of the centre of Cambridge.

They have built a platform to synthesis DNA which provides exciting possibilities for ensuring cheaper, faster and more accurate DNA / gene constructs than traditional plasmid-based methods.

In a key phase of their growth, our client is looking to onboard experienced Scientists in the field of cellular biology


The Opportunity


This is an opportunity for a Scientist with a BSc or MSc and additional industry, or post-graduate experience in a cellular/biochemical biology setting.

If you have experience in adherent and primary cell culture and are looking for the next step in your career then this opportunity could be for you.

As a Scientist within the cellular biology team you will be responsible for:


  • Maintenance of various cell lines simultaneously, ideally including some CNS cell types (neurons, glial cells, microglia, dendritic cells etc).
  • Nanoparticle handling and testing.
  • Conducting a wide range of cellular biology based experiments using immortalised, adherent, neuronal and primary cell cultures.
  • Validation of transfected cells using flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA and western blotting.
  • Plan, refine and execute experiments which align with overall project plans.
  • Work individually and collaboratively within the R&D teams.
  • Play an active role in departmental meetings and development meetings.
  • Keep a comprehensive and uptodate record of experiments and data/results

Skills and Experience Needed

  • BSc/MSc in a biological discipline
  • Cellular or Molecular Biology (essential)
  • 2 years' industrial experience in a relevant scientific field (essential, 1 year considered too)
  • Previous cell culture experience with mammalian and primary cell lines (essential), ideally some CNS cell types too.
  • Expertise in several of the following techniques: ELISA, qRTPCR, Western blotting, Flow Cytometry (essential)
  • Experience in troubleshooting and developing laboratory protocols (desired)
  • Excellent communication skills (essential)
  • Existing right to work in the UK (essential)
