About Us
The Client
Our client has a visual impairment and therefore is seeking an admin assistant to help in her daily work tasks.
The job is based in an office in Stratford, London and you will be required to work from the office when our client is there and work remotely from your home when she is working from her home.
PRIME OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB:
To provide support and assistance to enable the Lead Officer (Client) to carry out their duties in accordance with their employment role.
Our client currently works 12 hours a week which are split over 3 mornings Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with the view of increasing to 4 full days a week in the future.
You will need to have the ability to work from home some of the time but flexibility in regards to working location is required.
Enhanced DBS will be carried out for this role.SUMMARY OF MAIN TASKS:
To offer general admin support to our visually impaired client.
To accompany the client to the office, in-person training events and other meetings.
To travel to the office, work events and training sessions with our client.
This will include meeting them at their home, travelling to the venue with them and travelling back to their home at the end of the event.
To act as a sighted guide in unfamiliar indoor, outdoor or cluttered environments as well as in the office, give verbal ques such as step left/right, identify steps going up or down, open doors, trip hazards, read aloud signage/directions etc.
To read written material as necessary including handwritten material and notes for/to the Lead Officer.
To assist the client with her own work on the computer helping with formatting work, looking for typos and errors.
To establish positive professional working relationships and boundaries with the client's colleagues and service users.
To appropriately communicate any concerns to the client regarding any possible safeguarding issues.
To actively participate in supervision and appraisal.
Adherence to the local policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and the Grace Health and Social Care's Code of Conduct, actively promoting equality and diversity.
SKILLS:
- The ability to communicate effectively including good written communication skills.
- The ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues, professionals, service users and with people from a range of social, cultural and ethnical backgrounds.
- The ability to work in a supportive capacity without taking over the role of the Lead Officer (Client).
- Experience working with people who have a visual impairment is not essential but will be an added advantage
- Ability to work from home is essential
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE:
No direct line management responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESOURCES:
Basic responsibility for work related equipment e.g. Computers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities
INITIATIVE:
To be able to work on own initiative
MENTAL EFFORT:
Processing of paperwork related to the role of the client.
Use of computer programmes, data bases and different software.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working away from base
OTHER DUTIES AND CONDITIONS:
The Admin Support Worker may be asked to do other duties commensurate with the role and the grade.
