Senior Product Manager - Primary Literacy and Extended Curriculum
About the team
Our Pearson School Qualifications business supports schools, teachers, learners and their parents throughout their entire school journey, from 5 to 19.

The Primary Literacy and Extended Curriculum team within Pearson's School Qualifications Product Development division is an exciting and creative team responsible for our flagship Literacy brand Bug Club as well as our publishing for the Humanities, Scienceand Wellbeing.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager who is passionate about Primary education, especially Reading. In this role, you will required to have your finger on the pulse of Primary education. You will be in constant contact with teachers and up todate with trends, policy and competitor activity.
A day in the life
On a day in this role, you could be doing any of the following things:
Strategy Planning
- Planning or attending a strategy session to develop our strategy in a given area.
- Putting together a business case to sign off a proposed new product or improvements to a current product.
Market knowledge and insight
- Visiting a school to observe a lesson or conduct research.
- Organising a focus group or putting together a survey to get insight from teachers.
- Putting together an analysis of a new competitor offer.
Proposition development and delivery
- Working with internal and external colleagues to put together a project plan and schedule to deliver a new suite of products.
- Working with Content Learning Specialists to ensure timely delivery of products and services to budget and quality.
- Working with technology colleagues to understand technology development required to deliver a proposal and plan it into their roadmap.
- Working with sales and marketing colleagues on collateral for the sales team or for Marketing material to maximise sales of your product.
Financial planning and management
- Contribute to the financial planning processes for your products.
- Be accountable and responsible for project P&Ls, working with internal stakeholders to establish sales forecasts and targets and to deliver according to project budgets.
Who are we looking for?
Someone with the following skills and qualities:
- Passion for Primary education, especially Reading/Phonics (experience of working in this area would be ideal).
- Proven print and digital publishing skills and demonstrable experience in delivery of commercially successful propositions to market which meet customer needs.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Creative, innovative and strategicthinking.
- Commercial and financial planning skills.
- Communication, relationshipbuilding and influencing skills.
Role location:
The individual assigned can work flexibly as a hybrid worker between their home and our offices based in Oxford or London.
