Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,762 to £32,411 with potential progression once in post to £36,333

Grade 6

Part Time hours per week)

Fixed Term contract up to July 2026

Background


To assist in research (by carrying out data collection or analyses) to create knowledge through providing research support the EPSRC funded UKFin+ project.


This post is an exciting opportunity for a research assoicate to work in collaboration with the Financial Service industry, including FinTech, on the EPSRC funded UKFin+ project which aims to establish a nation-wide research network involving academia and the Financial Services sector.


In this post you assist in developing a UK research agenda for financial services, interact and collaborate with UKFin's research projects and initiate knowledge exchange activities with industry and charity partners.


Role Summary

  • Work within specified research grants and/or projects

  • Contribute to knowledge exchange and public understanding of the discipline

Main Duties

  • Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews
  • Analyse research data as directed
  • Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
  • Develop or adapt techniques, models and methods
  • Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
  • Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research
  • Contribute to enterprise, business development and/or public engagement activities under supervision of a project investigator
  • Promotes equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture

Person Specification

  • Degree or equivalent in computer science, business or other relevant research area
  • Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively
  • Ability to access and organise resources successfully
  • Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly
