The Resilience Department is responsible for delivering the SECAmb's ongoing programme to increase the resilience of the Trust so that it is able to respond to Major Incidents and business disruptions, regardless of source, whilst continuing to deliver the critical services that its stakeholders and community rely upon.


The EPRR Team supports the delivery of the Trust's resilience programme by developing the relevant Trust policies, procedures and plans.

The team provides the main link to the regional EPRR structures, collaborating with and co-producing plans with the Local Resilience Forums, Local Health Resilience Partnerships and Blue Light Forums.


This role of Emergency Planning, Resilience & Response Officer is a key element of delivery of the EPRR agenda to the trust.

This role will be responsible for responsible for contributing to the design and development of plans and ensuring delivery in line with Emergency Planning guidance


The post-holder will share specialist knowledge with all departments in relation to delivering specialist knowledge in relation to delivering the emergency planning, business continuity and resilience agenda for SECAmb, for all departments.


  • Support and respond to the learning/training needs of managers and staff through the development and delivery of programmes of training relating to major incident, resilience and specialist response aligned to the EPRR agenda.
  • Maintain and build on existing strong relationships with partners and key stakeholders such as Local Resilience Forums (LRFs), Local Health Resilience Partnerships (LHRPs), NHS partners (local/regional/national) and other agencies (e.g. other emergency services).
  • To maintain and contribute to the development and implementation of action plans related to EPRR compliance requirements, business continuity and as a result of learning from incidents (including serious incidents, audit actions, etc)
  • Responsible for supporting the writing of, and providing advice on appropriate Trust policies and operating procedures.
  • Work with multiagency partners to ensure that Trust site specific plans are compliant with the range of relevant legislation, and are effective, reviewed and exercised.
  • To respond to incidents / public events in a clinical, command or advisory capacity as required, ensuring a high level of knowledge and expertise is maintained, underpinned by theory and experience


South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust coversa geographical area of 3,600 square miles (Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, West Sussex, Kent, Surrey, and North East Hampshire), including densely populated urban areas as well as more rural remote areas.

In total SECAmb employs over 4,500 staff, working across 110 sites with almost 90 per cent of the workforce being made up of operational staff - those directly caring for patients.


The Resilience team work in partnership with all other teams and directorates across the Trust and are instrumental in both the planning and response functions of the organisation.
