We are seeking an experienced Information Governance professional with a broad range of demonstrable experience, preferably from a similar health care environment, to join our Information Governance team.
An excellent opportunity for a team player with exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to look for solutions to support new ways of working throughout the Trust.
The trust serves a diverse population with multiple services requiring information governance support for both service users and staff.
You will bring significant data protection and information governance experience along with enthusiasm, dedication to detail and great communication and negotiation skills to this vital role.
- Assessing projects for DTAC compliance
- monitoring and evaluate all information governance incidents and risks to ensure they are appropriate investigated and reported upon in line with national guidance and local policy
- support and undertake information governance audits to provide assurance to the Trust that information governance is embedded within the Trust
- ensuring a timely submission of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, with a robust evidence base, demonstrating year on year improvement.
- providing advice and guidance to Trust staff on all information governance and FOI matters, ensuring that appropriate processes and procedures comply with current legislation and statutory requirements and to handle ad-hoc enquiries.
- review information sharing agreements as relevant and ensure that they are understood and accessible to staff
- Work with teams to ensure the Trust's record of processing activity is accurate and up to date and Communications Team to ensure publication scheme requirements are made available via Trust we site
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is an Integrated Care Organisation, providing health and care services across South Devon.
The Data Access an Disclosure Office, including the Information Governance function supports the Trust with governance advice, and provides assurance to the Board of the Trust compliance with legislations.

- working with the DSP Lead and DPO to ensure that information governance has a risk-based approach ensuring that data protection and confidentiality is clearly embedded in the information governance framework and work plan
- working with the DSP lead ensuring that the Trust's information governance policies, procedures and guidance meet the Trust's legal and statutory requirements
- working with various teams throughout the Trust to ensure that appropriate information governance clauses are in all contracts
- To provide knowledgeable support to Data Access and Disclosure team
- monitoring and evaluate all information governance risks including breaches of confidentiality to ensure they are appropriate investigated and reported upon in line with national guidance and local policy
- support and undertake information governance audits to provide assurance to the Trust that information governance is embedded within the Trust
- attend meetings at the request of DSP lead or DPO to provide insight, knowledge and IG guidance
- ensuring a timely submission of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, with a robust evidence base, demonstrating year on year improvement.
- providing advice and guidance to Trust staff on all information governance matters, ensuring that appropriate processes and procedures comply with current legislation and statutory requirements and to handle ad-hoc enquiries.
- ensuring that data protection/confidentiality is clearly embedded in the information governance framework and work plan;
- Support senior management in ensuring that the Trust's meets its legal obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018 and common law duty of confidentiality
- providing information, advice and support on matters relating to confidentiality / data protection and escalating through line management as required
- Work with teams to ensure the Trust's record of processing activity is accurate and up to date and Communications Team to ensure publication scheme requirements are made available via Trust we site
