Do you have a passion for supporting children with challenging behaviour? Do you think you can make a difference to the lives of children who are struggling to engage within education?


Empowering Learning are supporting a school in the Derby city area (DE22) who are looking to appoint a full time behaviour specialist to work across their school with a number of children.


  • Has previously supported children with challenging behaviour
  • Possesses experience of working within a primary school or similar setting
  • Can build relationships with pupils who are struggling to engage in class
  • Will be able to manage the challenging behaviours of children
  • Can be an effective communicator and liaise with a range of professionals
  • Understands how to support children with additional needs
  • Can lead intervention groups with children working below age expected levels

The main duties within the role will be:

  • Working on a 1:1 basis with pupils across KS1 and KS
  • Delivering small group academic interventions with pupils working below age expected levels
  • Running intervention sessions with children based around positive communication and teamwork skills
  • Running lunchtime groups with the aim of reducing the number of incidents at this time
  • Supporting the teaching and learning within the classroom
