We are advertising the exciting opportunity of Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) on Ward 78, Gynaecology. The permanent position is part time, 22.5hrs/week, over 3 days a week.


Ward 78 is looking for an experienced registered nurse who has a keen interest in supporting and educating the clinical team.

The successful applicant will working both autonomously and as part of the MDT to provide specialty training for Gynaecology nurses.


Ward 78 is a 22 bedded inpatient Gynaecology ward that includes ambulatory care and direct admissions from Community care settings.

Ward 78 is the only inpatient nursing ward in St Michael's Hospital, requiring team members to be proficient in assessing and escalation of care, and maintaining good communication with Clinical Site Managers at the BRI.

The role of the PEF will help to build upon the skills and confidence of the team to work cohesively with the Gynae Medical Team to provide:

compassionate post-operative and medical treatment for a variety of gynaecological conditions, and maintain patient safety to ensure a high standard of care in provided.

The PEF will have the opportunity to be creative in how they deliver training and support.

They will be expected to keep clear and concise records of staff members training needs, and identify where additional support is required.

The PEF will be expected to keep up to date with updates in training, and attend local governance.

  • Take a leading role in introducing and supporting new services and procedures within gynaecology, together with enhancing evidence based practice.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a high standard of care is maintained.
  • To ensure in conjunction with the equipment competency link nurses, that all staff are trained to use medical equipment safely and for the purpose for which it was intended.
  • To work clinically on the ward to support training of staff members, or if staffing pressures require support of additional clinical staff.
  • Work collaboratively with PEFs within the Division and Trust
  • You will also support existing members of the nursing team to develop and refresh their skills, enabling continued development throughout their careers.
  • Through working with new staff directly link theory to practice within the clinical setting, and ensure accurate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care
  • Act as a knowledge resource for members of the multidisciplinary team on a day today basis
  • Support others in developing and updating clinical guidelines for multidisciplinary use
  • Act as a role model clinically by ensuring own practice is of a high standard
