Description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead our mentalisation-based therapy (MBT) team, and to consult to professionals at the interfaces to our service on the management and care of complex cases.

The post is full time and permanent, working across our Lambeth Living Well Centres in our Secondary Care Psychological Therapies pathway.

The role involves managing our MBT services, including supervision, governance and oversight of referral processes, delivery, and reporting.

The other focus for the role is the interfaces of the service, particularly with primary care and other referrers, in understanding and managing care for complex, often repeat presentations where psychological therapy needs are difficult to formulate and to meet.

This is an exciting opportunity to use specific therapy expertise to develop and oversee a service, and to shape high quality care for vulnerable service users.

We are committed to developing a team that is fully representative of the communities that we serve.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as Lead for the delivery of MBT and for consultation at the service interface for people with complex mental health presentations, overseeing service provision and supporting the borough community teams and other services
  • To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for managing care in this pathway, within the borough adult mental health (AMH) psychology services, within care teams, and across relevant care systems.
  • To provide, develop and ensure the systematic provision of a psychological therapies service (specifically MBT) to adults with complex mental health presentations (and, as required for the success of this clinical input, expert psychological input to their families and carers) including specialist assessment, liaison with multidisciplinary teams, treatment planning and implementation, and monitoring of outcomes, according to relevant guidance and the evidence base.
Working for your organisation

Lambeth is the second largest inner London Borough with an official population of around 350,000.

The local population has needs related to a high level of social deprivation such as unemployment, poor social housing and child poverty.

There are also pockets of greater affluence. There are high levels of morbidity, and levels and complexity of mental health problems are above the national average.

Lambeth CCG and Lambeth Council want the people of Lambeth to have a fully integrated and coordinated mental health system which focuses on people's strengths and supports their whole health and wellbeing.

They have commissioned SLAM NHS as part of the Lambeth Living Well Network (LWN) Alliance to lead, co-ordinate and, in large part, deliver support and services for those experiencing mental health issues in Lambeth.

The Trust:

The South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust is part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) and committed to innovation, effective interventions and improved service user outcomes.

It provides mental health services to the people of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon, and some more specialist services to people from across the UK.
