Description

As a Passenger Assistant, you will be responsible for providing assistance and support to vulnerable children or adults during their transportation on Wiltshire Council contracted services.

Your primary role will be to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers throughout their journey to and from school or social day care services.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting vehicles safely and securely.
  • Ensure passengers are seated properly and comfortably during the journey.
  • Provide appropriate support and assistance to passengers with special needs or disabilities.
  • Monitor passengers' behavior and intervene when necessary to maintain a safe and calm environment.
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with passengers, their families, and other staff members.
  • Maintain accurate records of passenger attendance and any incidents or concerns that occur during transportation.
  • Follow established protocols and guidelines for emergency situations or medical needs.
  • Collaborate with the transport driver and other team members to ensure smooth and efficient transportation operations.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations related to passenger safety and welfare.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required to enhance job knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine desire to support vulnerable individuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
  • Strong observation and problemsolving abilities.
  • Physical fitness to assist passengers with mobility needs, including the ability to lift and maneuver wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
  • Reliable and punctual with good time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Basic computer literacy for maintaining records and completing necessary documentation.
  • Prior experience working with vulnerable individuals or in a similar role is desirable but not essential.

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time

Part-time hours: 30 per week


Salary:
£11.00-£12.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Supplemental pay types:

  • Bonus scheme

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Salisbury: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Delivery driver experience: 1 year (preferred)
