What will the apprentice be doing?
TADMINISTRATION DUTIES - Accurate filing of patient records and correspondence - Photo copying, faxing and filing - Maintenance of a high standard of medical records in line with Practice procedure - All new notes to be labelled at point of registration - Retrieval of patient records for surgery sessions as and when required - Check rooms when trying to locate missing notes data/documentations - Entering patient data in to computer system - Receiving deliveries of medications / vaccines to the Practice in line with Practice procedure - Maintaining administrative supplies in consulting rooms - Stock checks - Processing incoming and outgoing mail in line with Practice procedure - Scanning patient documents into computer system - Process incoming and outgoing medical records - Log incoming notes on to request for notes session prior to passing to admin to log summaries - Filing notes requested by GP / Medical Secretary - Update request for notes session each week - Process patient changes of registration information - Support the work of the Medical Secretary and the Patient Advisor Team in maintaining a high quality admin system - Prepare patient notes for summarising GENERAL DUTIES - Keep working area tidy and desks stocked - Keeping staff facilities tidy - Maintaining high standards of tidiness in the reception and waiting areas - The Cold Chain protocol to be followed regarding vaccine orders received - Tidying and stocking consulting rooms - Inspect patient and staff toilets and ensure they are adequately stocked at all times - Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times - Maintaining Practice health and safety policy and procedures at all times - Implementing the Practice infection control policy and procedures at all times including cleaning spillages of body fluid and collection of clinical waste for disposal - Fully participate in Practice meetings including attendance at four annual Practice events.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The successful apprentice will be enrolled on the Business Administrator Apprenticeship Level 3 with PMA Ltd
- The apprenticeship will be a workbased apprenticeship and the learner does not attend college but completes the apprenticeship whilst in the workplace
- Functional Skills in English and maths if required
- On the job training for reception and other essential training needs to work in the GP surgery
