  • A provider of returnable transit packaging systems, renowned for providing high quality solutions to the retail, general industry, and automotive sectors. Who are looking for a Technical Engineer to join their team salary is negotiable depending on experience.

Job Title:


  • Technical Engineer

Job Purpose of the Technical Engineer:

  • To drive business performance via completion of technical tasks/activities related to optimising uptime of machines, tools, equipment and services
  • To contribute to the identification and development of standardised working practices that optimise health, safety and environmental standards, quality performance, speed (adherence to schedules), cost and people development and performance across all technicalareas
  • To develop, optimise and record activities to ensure optimum performance can be achieved across all technical areas
  • To proactively drive performance through the use of improvement techniques
  • To minimise downtime through prompt reactive attendance, resolution and recording of machine, tool, process issues

Principle Accountabilities:


Safety

  • To ensure all activities comply with the sites HSHE policy and systems.
  • To manage risk assessments and safe systems of working associated with all activities including any training and Continuous Improvement activities undertaken

Quality

  • To ensure the assets within the manufacturing area are maintained, repaired, serviced and set to meet specification and customer requirements with regard to product quality and optimise plant efficiency at all times
  • To ensure that all records and documentation are completed and maintained to ensure compliance with company policy and procedure

Equipment Used and Technical Expertise Required

  • Numerically and literally competent
  • Time Served Apprenticeship.


  • C&G Parts 1&

  • NVQ Level 17th Edition desirable
  • Knowledge of construction and servicing of injection mould tooling desirable
  • Knowledge of processing issues and corrective actions desirable
  • Knowledge of tool change process desirable
  • Knowledge of Plant Services i.e., Pumps, Air Compressors & Water Chillers
  • Knowledge and understanding of automated equipment
  • Reading & understanding of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic & mechanical drawings
  • Hydraulic, Electrical, Pneumatic & Mechanical knowledge (Fault finding, Maintenance, Servicing, Testing etc).
  • PLC's Programming & Fault finding
  • PC Packages (Excel, Word & Outlook)
  • CNC Robotic programming & fault finding desirable
  • Lifting and slinging.
  • Basic machine shop knowledge
  • A technical understanding of the operation and process setting of moulding machines and of, tool setting, overhead cranes, the setting of robots and material conveyors
  • Technical writing skills sufficient to produce process packs to agreed standards
  • Competent use of all tools and equipment necessary for task completion
  • Able to operate, read and interpret key measuring equipment
  • Ability to operate iScala & Mattec to enable accurate and correct recording of work order, scrap and downtime data
  • Personal protective equipment applicable to the area, environment and process of work.
  • Fully conversant with SAMS
  • Must have a full understanding of CI/Lean principles and other world class manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Must have excellent knowledge of all manufacturing processes, including the inspection, finishing and packaging of injection moulded products.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and a catalyst for change

Skills and Experience:

Job Skills

  • Relevant qualification and experience in technical disciplines related to, maintenance, tool room, setting and processing
  • Experience working in a dynamic manufacturing/process environment preferably with a background knowledge in injection moulding
  • Knowledge of SAMS operational understanding and sufficient skill/knowledge to train others
  • An operational knowledge of iScala computer system and Mattec, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must have the ability to operate, read and interpret key measuring equipment (quality jigs and fixtures)
  • A technical understanding of the operation of moulding machines.
  • Understanding of modern manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to fully understand production data, analyse trends and take appropriate corrective action

Salary:


  • Negotiable depending on experience.
  • Working hours 4 on 4 off, 12hour shifts (05:5 18:00, 17:5 06: days, 4 rest, 4 nights rotation. Average of 42.33 hours per week. Please note a shift change is being discussed but this will still see 12 hour shifts over days/ nights.
