Weekend Cook (Saturday and Sunday, pm)

Hourly Rate:
£9.74

Job Role

To manage the preparation of all weekend meals and food provisions at the hostel. To manage and ensure correct weekend supervision of staff and volunteers in the kitchen area.

The main duties and responsibilities are as follows:

To prioritise workload and allocate catering tasks to relevant staff and volunteers.
To maintain cleaning regimes to ensure that all areas of the kitchen operates within acceptable health and safety standards as required by Environmental Health.
To prepare, cook and serve dishes as advised on the menus in advance and to be adaptable and ensure donations are used to their fullest capacity.
To hold a recognised catering qualification and have an understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety. A good understanding and knowledge of traditional meals is essential.
To possess good verbal communication skills
To ensure that all meals are prepared and presented to an acceptable standard.
To ensure that any meals required to specific dietary requirements comply to all relevant health and safety standards.
To provide excellent customer service, preparing and cooking simple but wholesome food.
To ensure adequate stock controls are in place and communicate with the Project Cook and Accommodation Services Manager regarding these.
To comply and keep up to date all Food Standard Agency checks ('Safer Food Better Business for Caterers' standards) and ensure that all the relevant paperwork is updated and carried out at all times.
