Description

Managers / Trustees / Treasurer Needed

Cambridge Re-Use is directed by its Board, which meets regularly to monitor the activities of the charity, review its procedures, design and implement new initiatives and set the overall strategies and vision that guide future operations.

The Board uses data-driven approaches with key performance indicators to assess the success of projects and guide decisions.

Members of the board are all volunteers who bring a diverse range of experiences and skills to the table.

They include ex CEOs of large commercial companies and public sector organisations, self-employed consultants, business owners and experienced professionals giving some time to charity as well as developing new skills and achievements.

Discussions are lively, reflecting the challenges we face.

You might be looking to gain experience working at board level or in initiating and managing the implementation of new business/operational initiatives that have an impact on business success.

Recent initiatives include implementing card payment acceptance, on-line sales and increasing our grant income from charitable trusts to a higher and more reliable level, all making a significant difference to the running of the charity.

We are looking for individuals who can consider the big picture and who have good independent judgement.

We would value a range of knowledge and experience, such as:

- managing finances / accountancy / bookeeping
- running a business
- managing projects
- finance
- human resources
- working with volunteers

  • IT
- or other relevant experience.

Trustees need to:
- be available to attend a monthly meeting (virtually or in person)
- have a willingness to work as a team;
- actively participate in discussions that relate to the strategy of the organisation.

Some directors only do that, providing the experience to help ensure we don't go stray while others also initiate projects and get involved in running them into the business.
