Job Introduction

An opportunity has arisen to join the team at Otterburn Camp as a Rural Training Area Operative.

As a Rural Training Area Operative you will be responsible for the maintenance of the Rural Estate which is 58,000 acres.

This exciting opportunity will suit someone who enjoys the outdoors and is looking for a new challenge.

This role, is based on a 12 month Fixed - Term Contract.


We are looking for someone who either has previous knowledge of working on the Defence Training estate or someone who is keen to learn new skills and bring an enthusiastic willingness to learn, Landmarc will provide full training for the successful applicant.

Main Responsibilities

Rural Estate Maintenance Works - Fence repairs and maintenance.

Tree planting and maintenance, small scale forestry works including felling and respacing.

Stone track repairs and maintenance.

Vegetation cutting.

Cold tar repairs.

Dry stone wall repairs

Driving and operating fleet vehicles / plant and machinery.

Use both IT and paper based systems to complete any relevant documentation.

Rural Estate Maintenance, practical experience in forestry or countryside/environmental management.

Work well as part of a team showing drive and motivation to improve the Rural Estate.

Enthusiasm for practical work in the outdoor environment.

Have a full drivers licence valid in the United Kingdom.

Ability to operate plant and machinery (holds valid certificate)

Knowledge of Health and Safety (risk assessments, manual handling, COSHH, PPE, safe systems of work)

Basic IT skills

Willingness to undertake further training
