We work with children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, from birth through to 25 years. Each year we support over 15,000 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 80 Local Authorities across England.

About The Role:

Salary - £19,574 FTE

As a Young People's Participation Worker, you will be working onetoone with a disabled young person, helping them raise their voice in decision making. The Role:


  • To support Hull and East Riding participation leads in delivering focus groups, activities, evening and daytime sessions
  • To assist those colleagues in organising activities as necessary
  • To assist those colleagues in taking notes/recording group sessions
  • To support disabled young people in group settings and on trips into the community
  • To have an understanding of participation and coproduction
  • To ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child or young person at sessions
  • To recognise and meet the young person's social, emotional and communication needs, developing opportunities for participation in activities
  • To work one to one with a child/young person and/or in a team, using your own initiative
  • To complete KIDS induction, core training, and ongoing inservice development programs
  • To comply with all KIDS policies and procedures including child protection and confidentiality
  • To consult and involve the young person in all decisions affecting him/her using whatever means are appropriate and possible
  • To empower the child/young person to be included in activities promoting inclusion and choice
  • To develop strong supportive relationships with young people
  • To undertake any other duties at the request of the participation leads and their managers

  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries

  • Interest in an active healthy lifestyle e.g. sports, gardening, cooking
  • Knowledge of the local area.
