Description
To assess, manage and treat all adult and paediatric patients presenting to the Emergency Department with illness and injury.

To supervise and support the junior Medical staff

To support the Nursing team

To lead the department when in the Emergency Physician in Charge (EPIC) role

To work as part of the consultant team in an annualised rota to provide shop floor coverage from 8am to midnight 7 days a week, including 1:6 weekends in the Department

Week day on call frequency 1:12

Weekend on call frequency 1:12

Whilst on call to be able to commute to the Department within 30 minutes.

All of the above as described in the Main Duties

To take part in the active weekly SHO teaching

To support and supervise medical students

To accommodate the shadowing of those doing work experience placements

Able to compassionately communicate with all groups of patients (including children)

Effectively communicate with medical and nursing colleagues to ensure timely and high-quality care is delivered to our patients

To be at all times approachable to all members of staff

Please be aware that consultants on both site have previously been asked to cover night shifts when there have been middle grade rota gaps.
