The Campus Infrastructure and Operations within UCL Estates, is responsible for managing support to the complex £2bnproperty portfolio consisting of 200 buildings.

With an annual maintenance spend approaching £30m, managed through a team of 50 technical staff and a wide range of service and specialist contracts (circa 50).

The team manages maintenance services, contracts,long-term maintenance and improvements to buildings and infrastructure including critical statutory requirements.


About the role


We are pleased to offer a newly established post for a senior building surveyor with fire compliance expertise to join UCL estates.

This is a hugely consequential role in which the successful post-holder will be responsible for supporting fire safety complianceacross the UCL estate, working closely with Fire Safety and Asbestos Teams and other Estates colleagues.


These activities include:

  • Close out of fire risk assessment property actions by scoping, tendering, and delivering remedial works arising from fire related works and projects. Managing remedial works actions and monitoring that work is completed to industry and manufactures standardsand to UCL fire safety technical notes.
  • Managing the PPM fire door, fire compartmentation and passive fire protection contracts.
  • Managing and coordination passive fire protection works with approved contractors where identified.
  • Coordinating passive long term fire protection programme of works other Estates colleagues.


As part of the CE&I fabric team you will also be involved in delivering projects and providing advice across the estate.

About you
We would love to hear from qualified building surveyors with a proven track record in fire safety building design and property maintenance as well as thorough knowledge and experience of maintenance operations in a large multi
- site organisation. The successfulpostholder will have extensive experience of both budget management and Project management, contract procurement and service management in a fast-paced changing environment.
