Description

The purpose of this role is to provide an efficient and high standard of clerical service to the ward; to ensure that a welcoming and professional greeting service is provided to patients and visitors; to ensure the smooth running of the admission and discharge process for patients on the ward and to ensure accurate and timely completion of unit databases.

The post holder will pride themselves on looking after their ward area and supporting clinical and other non-clinical staff every day.


Work alongside ward clerks, receptionists and the Clinical Support and Administration Manager to provide robust administration that underpins the delivery of a high quality in and outpatient service and demonstrate high levels of customer care at all times.

Be flexible in your approach to work, particularly being willing to cover other job roles (such as that of other ward clerks and receptionists) during periods of absence or high demand and work varying hours as required to ensure that the service maintains an adequate level of cover during core.

Act as a first point of contact in person and on the telephone for patients, relatives and visiting staff, welcoming them to the ward and dealing with any queries, including those relating to admission, discharge, visiting times, car parking, accommodation, insurance and This includes escalating queries where required.
