The Post

This role is key to the efficient delivery of learning technology and design activity within Learning & Teaching Enhancement, a division of Information Services.

It presents an opportunity for the role holder to develop the experience and skills that would support a future career as a Learning Technologistor Learning Designer.


Working with the team's Learning Technology and Design Specialists, this role will include providing information and advice to academic colleagues across all faculties.

This will involve answering queries that are identified by the Information Centre for specialist response and referring more complex issuesto Learning Technology and Design Specialists and/or Academic Development Partners as appropriate.

Supporting induction of new academic staff and the ongoing development of all staff involvedin learning and teaching, the postholder will also provide training in person and online to support the use of specified learning technologies.


The postholder will maintain and develop the Learning and Teaching Enhancement's digital resources, including the Learning and Teaching SharePoint site and information provided through the Canvas virtual learning environment.

They will also coordinate Learning and Teaching Enhancement's digital communications channels.


The role holder will support the delivery of Learning and Teaching Enhancement projects, events and meetings, coordinating with internal and external colleagues as required.


Additional Information / Special Conditions
Hours will be as required to undertake the role. Support is provided to on-campus and off-campus learners and staff, including those studying internationally and/or online. This will occasionally require the post holder to work outside the ordinary office hours.


Description of Duties
Design

  • Support the design of highquality blended/hybrid/online provision by the development of consistent processes and templates
  • Design learning and teaching resources to support induction and the ongoing professional development of all Stirling staff involved in learning and teaching
Delivery

  • Support the development of new programmes and modules and make revisions to existing programmes and modules in conjunction with the Learning and Teaching Enhancement team's Learning Technology and Design Specialists and/or Academic Development Partners
  • Offer training sessions in person and online to support the use of specified learning technologies (including the core online suite of technologies such as Canvas, Panopto and Turnitin as well as technology used in physical learning spaces on campus)
  • Ensure key milestones are met during the annual academic cycle (e.g. release of new Canvas template)
Coordinate

  • Regularly update Learning and Teaching Enhancement digital resources including the Learning and Teaching SharePoint site and information provided through the Canvas virtual learning environment, using content developed within the Academy or by other colleagues
  • Communicate the work of the Academy and the University's learning and teaching activity more generally by a range of means including:
  • coordinating regular updates in the Staff Roundup newsletter
- scheduling, copy-editing and publishing articles
- sourcing and scheduling content for sharing on social media

  • Make arrangements for Learning and Teaching Enhancement projects, meetings and events, liaising with internal and external colleagues as required
Support

  • Support individual Learning Technology and Design Specialists and Academic Development to meet Faculty requirements (for instance when developing new programmes/modules)
  • Provide a customer focussed secondline support service, delivered across a range of digital channels and on a facetoface basis, consistent with ITIL and Customer Service Excellence standards adopted across Information Services
  • Provide technical expertise to academic staff, including knowledge of a variety of online platforms and tools that are used by the University, including the development of support documentation, user guidance and knowledgebase articles
Other activities

  • Develop an understanding of developments in learning and teaching and associated digital technologies in HE and contribute to Stirling's development in these areas

Essential Criteria

Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree
Knowledge & Experience

  • Recent experience of higher education whether as a student or employee
  • Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the use of technology in education
  • Understanding of how digital technologies are used to support learning and teaching
  • Demonstrable experience of producing high quality digital materials and documentation in a range of formats
