Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of experienced designers
  • Developing game design documents and other designrelated documentation
  • Act as a bridge between the game director and the team, helping the director achieve their vision whilst being valued and honest counsel to them
  • Taking ownership of and delivering new seasons for the game
  • Keep a crossdisciplinary group of people informed and engaged with the task in hand both in terms of longterm goals and daytoday decisions
  • Communicate the game's current and future needs to people up, down and sideways within the team
  • Oversee the game design team, providing direction, inspiration, and mentorship
  • Design and iterate on core game mechanics to deepen player engagement and retention
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate Live Ops strategies that align with user expectations and project goals

Required Experience

  • Demonstrate design expertise, imagination and deep technical understanding
  • Lead game teams to good outcomes from a design perspective
  • Good understanding of technical matters, especially the limitations and challenges associated with online game design
  • Good understanding of the Unreal Engine, with an emphasis on multiplayer development
  • A strong analytical approach to game metrics and player data to drive decisionmaking

Desired Experience

  • Experience and knowledge of online and live games, including retention features

Important
The interview process for the Lead Designer role is made up of 3 stages:

  • First interview (45 minutes)
  • An informal chat to discuss your experience and working history relating to the position with members of our Design team. In return, we will provide a full overview of the role, life at the studio as well as answer any questions you may have.
  • Second interview (45 minutes)
  • Second Interview with our Studio Creative Director and Studio Design Director. This role will be focussed on the project and your skills and experience. You will have the opportunity to understand how our design teams work and the overall structure of our teams.
  • Final interview (30 minutes)
  • A final Interview with our Studio Head and Studio Production Director. This will be a chance for you to get to know the Senior Management team and all the things that make Lucid, Lucid You will have a lot of opportunities to ask any questions about the studio and Culture.
