About The Opportunity


Due to an expanding workload in the provision of consenting services to a major utility provider we're looking to appoint a Trainee Wayleave/Land Officer who will be based at our office in North Wales.

We look to ensure career progression through training and mentoring.

For this role a tailored training package will be provided which will include:

facilitating the delivery of land referencing, negotiating of land rights, and administering claims for compensation, all of which focus on the central goal of aiding our clients in fulfilling statutory obligations and in efficiently maintaining, upgrading, or improving the electricity distribution system.

Furthermore, the trainee will garner expert knowledge of the electricity act 1989, town and country planning act, environmental impact assessment regulations, property law, valuations, compensation code and agricultural practices.


Responsibilities and Duties Include

  • Prepare & define the Terms of Wayleave agreements, create both Wayleave Consent forms and Easement plans for the securing of rights
  • Assist in the preparation of Planning Applications to the Local Authority
  • Manage customer expectations and delivery to a demanding schedule
  • Liaise throughout the consenting process with customers, property owners, housing associations, property developers, local authorities, and others in obtaining all appropriate consents and permissions
  • Review and assist in the settlement of land damage claims and deliver a successful outcome
  • Manage customer delivery by actively maintaining excellent relationships with landowners, agents, consulting engineers, contractors, and government bodies
  • Provide a point of contact for customer wayleave enquiries
  • Adhere to internal and external, regulatory, operational and compliance procedures
  • Calculate compensation for permanent rights (easement) and wayleave rentals
  • Provide clerical support field operatives
  • Conduct land searches, compile, and maintain accurate records of land ownership details and interaction with landowners and their agents

Essential Skills, Aptitudes and Understandings Required

  • An understanding of agricultural practices, the environment, planning and an interest in land referencing would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in a customer facing environment would be beneficial
  • Competent in the use of Land Registry searches
  • Equally able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Effective communications skills
  • A calm, positive attitude
  • Able to learn quickly, effectively and confidently
  • Attention to detail coupled with a 'can do' attitude
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize changing workload and customer demands
  • A basic understanding of Wayleave agreements, easements, lease processes and associated remuneration arrangements
  • Welsh Speaking would be beneficial
  • A clean and current driving license is a necessity


Due to the location of the office and the requirements of the job to travel for site visits, a full clean driving licence and own transport is essential.

However, the use of the Company pool car is available for use for all site visits.


This is a full-time position with office hours of Monday to Friday from , however site hours will vary so occasional overtime may be required.
