Salary:
up to £37,000 (depending on experience)

The opportunity:


We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and passionate document controller, to join our Weapons System Simulation and Experimentation team.


WSSE are integral in the development of weapon systems and system architectures, as a result we have developed a capability supporting developments across the full product life cycle.


The team integrate real products, models and synthetic environments to provide visualisation, demonstrations, verification & validation as well as training capability and support.


What we're looking for from you:


Responsibilities:


You will be part of a mixed skill cross functional team focused on ensuring the documentation associated with Design, Development, Integration, Test, and delivery are tracked through Authoring, peer review and approvals and are of sufficient technical and quality standard in order to support achieving delivery milestones of our products.

We are looking to strengthen the documentation control and delivery within the Delivery Support team.

You will be recognised as a specialist in your area of expertise and assigned as Document Control specialist to support the development, management, review and publication of documentation within the Department Support Function.


  • Support to the Project leads in defining, controlling and tracking of all internal and external documentation related to delivery of the Project
  • Support the development of processes for Documentation Control to maximise efficiency without sacrificing quality and accuracy.
  • Support to the Project Teams in the creation and management of Documentation Tasks in the appropriate Business Lifecycle Management Tool
  • Create and manage the Project Repositories in the appropriate business Functional Information Management tool
  • Documentation Controller support to multiple Projects and teams concurrently at different points in the product lifecycle.
  • Managing the Project teams responsibilities to the business in terms of Technical and Design Review Gates
  • Internal Quality Assurance of the documentation prior to providing for peer review
  • Ensure coherence of department documentation to business templates
  • Preparation of Technical documentation for Authoring
  • Support to writing Technical Reports
  • Management of Documentation through the peer review and approvals process
  • Support to demonstrations and briefings of products.
  • The role is relatively autonomous and experience in leading and reporting on a project is required as you will project manage your assigned publication development through to delivery of all Project Documentation to the correct standard for quality and accuracy.

Skillset/experience required:


  • You will need to be familiar with the process of development, review and publication of documentation.
  • You will need to have an understanding of configuration and quality control of documentation, and the tools associated with that.
  • You will need to be highly proficient in the use of standard Microsoft office tools (PowerPoint, WORD, XL, One Note, Visio etc.)
  • Good communicator with resilience across all levels and a strong problem solver.
  • Good Teamworking skills is essential
  • Experience in working within a cross functional team of engineers, across multiple projects is essential.
  • Experience in working with documentation configuration tools is essential
  • Experience in working with documentation templates to retain commonality across documentation is preferable but not essential as training can be provided.
