This is an exceptional opening for a Java Technical Lead / Manager to lead an agile engineering team (around 6 direct reports) working with other Java developers and experts in AI, static and dynamic program analysis, and software verification.
The Java Lead will manage the agile delivery of core product features, line manage team members and participate in the technical review and refinement of ongoing projects.
You will also be expected to manage the various customer relationships so as to ensurethe team is building the right product as well as building the product right.
Responsibilities
- Manage an engineering team and deliverables operating in an Agile environment
- Provide architectural guidance and review on sprint backlog items
- Plan significant units of work that the team will work on, including refinement with stakeholders, staging and garnering feedback from customers
- Proactively contribute to the team's objectives of delivering incremental value every sprint and partner with other team members to deliver those objectives
- Interact with business stakeholders, customers and management to understand, define and refine user stories and the product backlog
- Have a passion for innovation and improvement whilst recognizing that customer outcomes are always king
- Manage personal development objectives for each team member ensuring that members are continuously learning and growing
- Undertake regular 11's and reviews with team members to ensure that team members are engaged and happy in their work environment
- Undertake some strategic planning for their team with a view to both personal, team and company growth
The Java Engineering Manager will have:
- Fluency in the Java language
- Experience of managing small teams in an agile environment
- Proven experience in contributing to large private and/or opensource projects
- Proficient knowledge of Git or other SCMs
- UX/UI experience
- Knowledge of testdriven development and a CI/CD setup
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with one or more of Linux/Mac OS/Windows environments
- Willingness to learn new skills and technologies and adapt to arising challenges
Optional but desirable skills:
- Experience with compiler architectures, parsers and syntax trees
- Prior exposure to the implementation of verification and program analysis techniques
