Description
We are looking to recruit a maintenance assistant into our team at University Hospital Southampton Foundation NHS Trust.


This is an entry level role and has no formal experience or qualification requirements; however a general aptitude for physical and practical tasks is advantageous.

Experience performing "DIY" activities such as home renovations or vehicle maintenance will give transferable skills as would any other activity that involves use of basic hand tools.

Typical Duties Include:


  • Routine maintenance tasks such as component replacement, recording performance data and plant room inspections
  • Working with contractors to deliver maintenance works
  • Working under direction of trade & supervisory staff to undertake engineering repairs
  • Coordinating materials and resources to ensure they are available when & where required
  • Basic plumbing & electrical tasks
The role will include comprehensive training to allow effective delivery of the role.

  • Air Handling Units & Ventilation Plant
  • Electrical Systems such as lighting circuits/UPS
  • Heating & Cooling systems
  • Nursecall Systems
  • Softening plant
  • Fire Systems


The Estates Maintenance department has a demonstrable track record in developing staff to enhance personal learning through training and promotional opportunities.
