We are a small but innovative and busy Family Law firm based in Abingdon, South Oxfordshire and are looking to add to our team.


We are interested in hearing from applicants ideally with experience of working in family law to work as a personal assistant to two of our Partners in our care team and assist with their growing caseloads.

You will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and legal support with all aspects of their caseloads.

Core tasks will include, but not limited to:

  • Answering the phones, making appointments, and dealing with telephone enquiries, including assisting on reception when appropriate and necessary
  • Keeping the office area that you work in ordered, clean and tidy, including regular disinfection as necessary
  • Assisting Partners and fee earners with drafting documents, as set out in the support plan
  • Employing a professional telephone manner, taking detailed messages and returning calls where appropriate Operating various office equipment including but not limited to computers and photocopiers.
  • Preparing and filing legal documents with other parties and Courts.
  • Performing proofreading and correction tasks for correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, and content in documentation when appropriate.
  • Preparing Court bundles (electronically or paper) as directed
  • Arranging meetings/telephone conferences including direct contact with clients and other third parties.
  • Accurate time recording of task undertaken and preparing notes accordingly
  • Shared diaries and ALB diary management in accordance with office procedures as they may be from time to time
  • Assisting Partners and fee earners to keep accurate records of expenses/disbursements/fees for client billing and liaising with accounts manager/partners to monitor payment of fees.
  • Typing and preparing a wide variety of documents such as letters, court documents, statements, briefs to Counsel.
  • Opening and closing files and assisting with file management
  • Arranging meetings with Counsel, clients, interpreters, Guardians, Experts, etc.
  • Assisting the Partners in any way requested to meet the firm's financial targets
  • Assisting the partners, fee earners, accounts team or billing team, as directed, with the submission of Legal Help bills and Private Client billing, in consultation with the fee earners together with other legal aid billing tasks


Experience of working with Word, Outlook and Excel together with excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as the ability to handle a busy workload, perform well under pressure and work as part of a team.

Experience as a legal secretary/assistant or paralegal preferred but not essential.
