This vacancy is fixed term/secondment until March 2026 due to short term funding.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the cross site working between Velindre University NHS Trust, University of Hospital Wales, and Cardiff university.

You will be part of the set up and running of the new research hub that will allow our patients to have access to more early phase trials.

Cross site working is essential in this role.

To provide a comprehensive and confidential administrative service for all aspects of clinical trial work undertaken within the Pharmacy department


To plan, organise and manage the daily workload of the pharmacy clinical trials service in conjunction with the clinical trials pharmacy technicians and assistants.

Dispensing highly complex clinical trial medications

Preparation of complex parenteral Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) using non touch aseptic technique within the pharmacy clinical trials area following detailed SOPs and instructions from the Sponsor


To work between VCC and Cardiff and Vale as part of a working group for high risk, early phase studies.

To assist the pharmacy CT technician in checking the daily Canisc lists.

Generate clinical trial worksheet and labels using the chemocare software package


To set up the preparation of cytotoxic / immunological drugs and consumables required for patient treatment in accordance with SOPs and patient worksheets.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

To maintain accurate records of all aspects of IMP management and update all clinical trial related documentation - this will include using paper based, telephone and complex electronic systems.

To handle confidential patient identifiable information on a daily basis providing feedback to relevant individuals as necessary.

Management of IMP stock levels to include ordering, receiving, relabelling, archiving, according to Sponsor and GCP requirements

To undertake routine expiry date checks and maintain the expiry date database.


Arrange and act as a pharmacy representative at trial monitoring and close out visits with external trial managers and sponsors.

To liaise directly with clinical trial monitors and answer queries

To assist in financial invoices to sponsors.

To screen and field telephone calls and enquiries as appropriate.
