Job Purpose


The H&S Continuous Improvement Lead will implement a probe and sense approach towards understanding work as done vs work as imagined, incorporate the learnings from both positive and negative outcomes and identify best practice through benchmarking both internally and externally.

The aim being to ensure that ISG's Health and Safety systems continually develop and evolve and truly reflect best practice in the industry and beyond.

The Group Health and Safety (H&S) Continuous Improvement Lead is also responsible for leading the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all ISG Health and Safety standards, processes, and procedures.


The H&S Continuous Improvement Lead will also ensure compliance to 45001 through collaboration with their colleagues in Quality who are responsible for maintaining our external certifications.

Key Responsibilities

Capture, incorporate and implement all learnings coming from the 'Learning teams' process.

Ensuring that both positive and negative outcomes are thoroughly explored, further validated through engagement processes, and then adapting our processes and procedures accordingly to close the operational gap.

Lead regular routine reviews of all H&S Systems through meetings and other forums with the each of the respective H&S Leads across ISG
Utilise the latest technology / software to visualise learnings, demonstrate best practices and communicate alerts.
Lead the further development and implementation of the H&S Insights process.

Lead the alignment of all H&S Systems at a Group level and ensure that where there are exceptions that there is a process in place to manage these with full authorisation from themselves and other key stakeholders.

Actively participate and contribute towards the development of ISG Group wide H&S strategies, the development of best practices and early adoption of new / latest thinking.

Participate in the formulation of an annual strategic plan to ensure continual improvement within ISG. Lead the implementation of H&S Systems campaigns and directives emanating from ISG Group Health and Safety.

Implement and maintain the aims and objectives of the Company Health and Safety policy and Health and Safety Management System, taking account of changes in legislation, best practice and Codes of Practice and local codes and standards.

Ensure the implementation of safe systems of work and ISG standards across projects and ensure all projects are consistent with these standards.

Measure and monitor implementation of ISG systems and standards through a probe and sense approach utilising the H&S Insights review to seek engagement from all levels of the business and our Supply Chain

Provide innovative Health and Safety solutions and communications, particularly 'lessons learned' and Health and Safety schemes via the Safety Leadership Teams.

Ensure that the learnings from all insights gained and the learnings from all incident / accident investigations and near misses are captured and incorporated where necessary within our H&S Systems.

Participate in and or lead key internal forums / workshops including monthly H&S Systems meetings and key supply chain workshops.

Produce monthly reports on the insights and learnings captured and incorporated into our H&S Systems.

Continually reviews the supply chain to ensure those contractors with both excellent and poor Health and Safety performance are evaluated to better understand work as done and the size of the operational gap.

Lead by setting a personal example and actively promote at all levels the company's commitment to effective Health and Safety.

Review and keep updated with country specific and new legislation and industry best practice
Ensure legal compliance with ISG policies and procedures to ensure that all operational and reputational risks are mitigated
Ensure the appropriate governance is in place so that decisions do not put ISG, ISG Staff, ISG's reputation and contractors at risk and that ISG's processes and local H&S legislation is complied with

Experience and Qualifications

Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent standard
Experience is using Visualisation / Animation software
Experience in overseeing the management, development, and administration of H&S Systems in a Global environment
