About the role

Pay Details:
Grade 8 (Scale Point £32,909 - £36,298 per annum pro rata

Hours of Work /
Working Pattern: 37 hours per week

Main Place of Work:
Civic Offices, Barry with some homeworking

Temporary Reason:
Post holder on secondment within another Council department for 18 months.


Description:


  • Leading on the Council's risk management approach, including development of the Risk Management Strategy, associated guidance and training, recording and reporting systems.
  • Providing regular updates to the Council's Strategic Insight Board, Strategic Leadership Team and Governance & Audit Committee on Corporate risks, including making connections between emerging and existing risks and potential corporate action that may be required.
  • Working closely with internal/external auditors to maintain the Council's excellent reputation with regard to performance management and monitoring.
  • Supporting work that enables the Council to comply with its statutory performance duties in relation to setting wellbeing objectives, keeping performance under review through selfassessment and consulting and reporting on our performance.
  • Providing support on corporate projects as required under the direction of the Corporate Resources Director and the Strategic Leadership Team.

About you

To deliver in this role you will need:

  • experience of developing corporate risk management strategies including guidance, training and reporting approaches.
- a working knowledge of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act and the Local Government & Elections (Wales) Act with particular reference to the performance duties of local authorities.
- to be a skilled negotiator, influencer and relationship builder with ability to influence officers working at significantly higher levels in the organisation.
- excellent research, analytical and presentation skills.
- experience of managing cross-departmental project teams.
