The Role


Our General Assistants/Doffers ensure the weaving department runs efficiently, by being responsible for completing the removal of têxtiles ('doffing' rolls) from the weaving looms once the production schedule is complete.

You will be required to understand and follow the safety requirements and ensure that you work within the Company's health and safety frame work.


Main Responsibilities and Duties

The General Assistant/Doffer's key responsibilities are:

  • Doffing têxtile rolls from the weaving looms to maximise production efficiency.
  • Keeping the weaving loom shed areas tidy and free from waste.
  • Marshalling waste plastic, cardboard and salvageable material to the correct refuse point.
  • Operation of the waste compactor.
  • Driving a forklift the individual will ideally have a current FLT licence.
  • General housekeeping duties.
  • Complying with all health and safety requirements and the reporting of any noncompliance or potential hazards, particularly as the role is more roaming in nature this is both emphasised and of critical importance.
  • Any other duties as required in order to fulfil the needs of the department.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A flexible and proactive attitude towards your workload is important, as the role requires a quality driven approach.

You must be collaboration / team orientated with the willingness and capacity to collaborate with others on a common goal.


You will demonstrate efficiency in your working practices to ensure the ability to meet performance and/or output in relation to duties and tasks; as the role is responsible for ensuring production flow and enabling the efficiency of production within the weaving department to set requirements.

You will be able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to initiate action of your own accord.

You must aim to achieve constant quality, detects problems, and makes adjustments within permitted standards and expectations. You will anticipate problems and recognise proactive involvement and goodwill in order to achieve set goals.


You will be expected to follow and adhere to the rules, regulations and expectations regarding order, tidiness and notably safety with proper care and attention.


We offer

  • A competitive rate of pay for a 37.5hour week, with nightshift premium rate of £11.5
  • Pension and Life Assurance.

  • Full training will be provided, you will follow an established training program with the mentoring of colleagues.


Our operations are 24 hours 5 days a week (Mon to Fri), the role will operate on a
fixed nightshift pattern of 10.00p.m.

to 6.00a.m. commencing Sunday 10.00p.m. and completing Friday 6.00 a.m. Our shift patterns allow for travel during non-peak hours, avoiding periods of heavy traffic.
