Group Health & Safety Advisor


To provide Health and Safety focus to the Company, and to work with the operations teams to improve the company's current health and safety systems, and to work closely with the site teams to bring improvement and change.


Responsible for all strategic guidance to the company on all Health and Safety matters, and accountable for all measurement, management and implementation of our Health and Safety Policies.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Promote company values in all dealings with other employees, clients, subcontractors, and other external contacts.
  • Drive the development of a strong Health and Safety focused culture across the Group and promote good safety behaviours.
  • Have extensive knowledge in Health and Safety legislation and best practice to assist with compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Health and Safety performance is accurately monitored and reported.
  • Liaise with employees, subcontractors and suppliers on Health and Safety matters as required.
  • Identify possible operational risks or opportunities, and work with site teams to ensure an appropriate and effective response.
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety plan and important information is understood and operated by all employees and subcontractors.
  • Communicate positive H&S performance effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage across the sites, implementing health and safety policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Conduct training, toolbox talks, inductions.
  • Support and advise HR department with regards to occupational health and any issues.
  • Undertake risk assessments and method statements, answering any health and safety related queries.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims, ensure group safety alerts are communicated where applicable.
  • Undertake site audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement, and reporting on the findings.
  • Undertake noise assessments and face fit testing.
  • Comply with all GDPR regulations.
  • Any other duties as required by the General Manager.

Person Specification

  • NEBOSH Certificate (Minimum) and other relevant H&S qualifications (NEBOSH Diploma desirable)
  • Health and Safety experience within a manufacturing and engineering environment.
  • Full driving license
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people
  • Drive and enthusiasm with the ability to promote a positive Health and Safety culture
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Working knowledge of CDM/DSEAR/Asbestos/COSHH/Permits to Work/Working at height
  • IT literate
  • Strong written and verbal communication e.g. report writing, briefings, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and selfmange.
  • Able to work under pressure and deliver results to tight deadlines.
  • Influence and persuading skills
  • A flexible attitude to working

Salary:
£26,810.69-£50,830.00 per year
