An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust to recruit up a motivated Consultant Interventional Radiologist.

This post is offered on a substantive basis and is a full time (10 PA) post.

There is a large vascular and non-vascular Interventional Radiology practice with referrals to our hub from across Warwickshire.

We have an out of hours on call Interventional Radiology rota for in-patient referrals, emergency department and major trauma centre.

We currently run a 1:7 IR on call consultant rota with plans to move to a 1:8 rota when appointments allow.


Main Duties Include:


  • Providing and developing IR and general radiology services with clinical colleagues in line with the expectations of the Department and Trust
  • Providing a consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care
  • Taking responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within General Radiology & IR
  • Developing and maintaining good communications with General Practitioners and appropriate external agencies.
  • Demonstrating a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice
  • Ensure own practice is uptodate; this will include taking responsibility for own Clinical Professional Development and participating in the Trust's Performance, Annual Appraisal system and GMC revalidation
  • Share responsibility for data protection arising out of the use of computers
  • Comply with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures
