Location:
Covering South West London


Job Type & Hours:
Full Time/ Permanent, Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:30pm


Annual Salary:
£32,000


A great opportunity has become available as a 2nd/3rd Line Field Support Engineer, to join a team of IT Specialists in a growing company.

The role is primarily working in educational environments, mainly primary schools and supporting, resolving and providingsolutions to any IT/ technical issues they are experiencing.

As an IT Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support for all clients, servers & associated routines
  • Maintaining, updating, and supporting various ICT networks
  • Completing installations of new and existing software packages across networks
  • Installing software on PCs, locally or via software distribution tools
  • Providing hardware and software support for workstations
  • Monitoring the efficiency of networks
  • Setting up new PCs and other hardware as required and administering user groups & accounts
  • Providing advanced support on client systems to include assistance with server setups and product requests from clients (this would typically include printer supplies, electronic media and computer systems, development plan requests)
  • Providing support to users in the use of the school's Management Information Systems
  • Installing software on PCs, locally or via software distribution tools
  • Performing complete installations of new PCs
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining antivirus software across the network
  • Ensuring all systems are up to date with software & service packs

Requirements:


  • Operational knowledge of ICT hardware and software
  • Ability to identify and replace faulty hardware
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac OS environments (Win10 / Mac OSX / iOS) & Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019, Active Directory, GPO, DHCP, DNS
  • Working knowledge of Hyper-V and VMWareESXi and cloud technologies Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, Azure and more
  • Strong knowledge of Group Policy management
  • Technical knowledge of Apple Mac hardware & software (including Mac OSX/iPad/iPhone)
  • Established skill set for network communications, network switching hardware diagnosing faults, switch configurations, efficiently design topologies
  • Working knowledge of Audio-Visual systems to include audio hardware / projectors / TVs / Interactive Whiteboards / Interactive Screens

Person Specification

  • Full UK Driver's Licence and vehicle
  • Previous technical experience (at least 3 years)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability
  • Ability to build & maintain a rapport with clients
  • Willingness & adaptability in tackling the variety of tasks arising in a school environment as well as business & home environments
