Description

Responsible for the operational management and professional leadership to the community and inpatient Childrens nursing team, with delegated responsibility to ensure that performance and budgetary objectives are met (General Managers remain accountable for budgets).

To be a highly visible and proactive leader acting as a clinical resource and ensuring the sustained delivery of high standards of nursing care and service delivery
To be responsible for exploring current practice, identifying areas for development, and planning the appropriate change using current evidence to evaluate outcomes
To deputise for the Head of Nursing in the delivery of a national and local nursing and modernisation agenda with the organisation. This will include taking a lead role across a range of strategic and professional development issues and involvement in organisation wide projects of a multidisciplinary nature.
To represent the organisation and/or Community Childrens nursing on regional & national strategic working parties as appropriate.

To ensure that health service delivery effectively reflects and responds to the identified needs of children, young people and families, by providing nursing leadership and continually challenging practice, leading and supporting innovation and change to improve care.

The purpose of the post is to ensure high quality Community & Inpatient Childrens Nursing, is achieved through the implementation of the clinical governance agenda through staff supervision, appraisal, clinical audit, standard setting and participation in research.

The team provides nursing care, advice & support, facilitate early discharge, prevent admissions and ensure appropriate professional are in place for the child to be cared for within a safe environment in the community.

The team works closely with multidisciplinary teams both in the primary and secondary care setting.

Highly developed specialist knowledge of NHS & social care agenda
Community nursing and inpatient children's services
Experience of prioritising and managing multiple projects to deadline
Experience of gathering and interpreting patient experience data and implementing measurable improvement plans.
