Admissions Officer (fixed term, maternity cover)

37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm, plus occasional weekends and evenings by arrangement with line manager. All year round post.


The Admissions Office offers a fast-paced, busy and dynamic working environment where attention to detail, discretion and a great sense of team spirit are a must.

The Admissions Officer will contribute to the continued growth and success of our school, working as an integral part of the Admissions Team across all aspects of the admissions experience from initial enquiry through to offer administration and the onboarding process for those joining the school.


The post holder will be expected to present a positive impression of the school at all times and be an excellent, empathetic communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills whilst also being an exceptional administrator, able to confidently manage large quantities of information on various different platforms.

The Admissions Officer will also be involved in arranging and conducting tours for families and the organisation of Open Mornings.


The post-holder will be equally happy combining a front of house role which requires exemplary people skills and customer service with strong IT competency and highly accurate administrative skills.

Enthusiasm, flexibility and strong organisational skills are essential and whilst experience working in a school would be beneficial, similar experience in administration, sales and events environments would also be of interest.

The post-holder will be expected to support the School's admissions functions (Nursery to S6), reporting to the Director of Marketing and Admissions, as follows:

  • Daily management of prospective enquiries in the admissions database (metis) and transfer of information on acceptance to the school database (PASS).
  • Arranging and conducting tours of the school for prospective parents and pupils
  • Overseeing, coordinating and administering the entrance testing process and the collation of results.
  • Organising Open Mornings including liaison with Senior Leadership Team and pupils
  • Liaising with Heads of Clan and teachers for inductions, open events and pupils spending the day.
  • Assisting with international enquiries including visa requests and printing and maintaining documentation for international pupils.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the on boarding process for families and the leavers process.
  • Creating statistical reports from the admissions database as requested.

Person Specification

  • A good general level of education plus appropriate further education / experience.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise.
  • Detail oriented with high level of professional discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with telephone calls and correspond in writing to prospective parents confidently and courteously.
  • Flexibility with regard to working hours. This may include occasional weekends or evenings.
  • Strong ICT skills and database management experience.
  • Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
  • A high level of personal integrity, discretion, professionalism, confidentiality and appropriate interpersonal skills when relating to staff, pupils, parents and visitors to the School.
  • Able to work independently but a strong team player ready to show initiative and embrace challenge.
  • A flexible, proactive approach to work, willing to carry out a variety of tasks and get involved in all aspects of school life.
  • Awareness and understanding of the demands of working in a school and also as part of a small team.

Terms & Conditions, and Remuneration

  • This is a fixed term position available for up to one year initially.
  • The all yearround salary bracket for the post is £20,000 to £30,000 per annum commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • The pension scheme the School will use to comply with its autoenrolment obligations is the Royal London. The School may amend or replace the Scheme from time to time.
