Your Role is to:
- Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all of the children placed in the Nursery
- To work part of a team to ensure that you are providing a stimulating and a high standard of education
- To be up to date with the recent version of the
"Statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage" and ensure that all expectations and practice meets the requirements in the Statutory Framework - Gain and retain a strong understanding of "Birth to Five" and "Development Matters" and our Curriculum aims for learning.
- To maintain and follow all safeguarding and other nursery policies and procedures at all times
- To promote positive relationships in the early years' setting
- Promote the health, safety and wellbeing of the children
- Support the children's development, learning and play
- Contribute to the effectiveness of team work, being proactive, sharing ideas, seeking solutions and rising to challenges
- To role model and provide high quality teachable moments being aware of each child's individual needs and development
- Follow the children's individual learning plans
- Provide next steps to parents through regular, high quality and educationally relevant observations
- To support the management team to ensure that the nursery to meet all legal requirements following the
"Statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage": - To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.
- All children to be supported ensuring that they are kept safe and have access to an enriched and enabling learning environment
- Provide and promote inclusion for all children, staff and students
- Follow in the moment planning with the children, engaging in activities led by practitioners, and also creating activities inspired by children's interests
- Communication with all children, practitioners, parents and external agencies is polite and courteous at all times
- To ensure that all seven areas of learning are taught through play and by providing motivating, enriched activities to help stimulate the children's learning in the setting.
- To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.
- All practitioners and staff have a responsibility to notify the Nursery Manager of any concerns e.g. safeguarding, parents, activities, health and safety, SEN concerns
- Have good organisational skills with the ability to work to targets and deadlines.
- To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings and parents evenings.
- To follow all routines, duties, timetables, rotas, record keeping activities and any other reasonable duty as requested by the Nursery Manager or SLT.
- To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
- To maintain and follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
- To work alongside the manager and other staff to ensure that the setting's philosophy is fulfilled.
- To develop your role within the team, especially with regard to being a key person.
- To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
- To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.
- To support nursery students and volunteers.
- To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
- To undertake First Aid following appropriate training.
- To take responsibility for continued professional development by attending courses (inhouse and external), receiving constructive feedback and reading relevant
- Any other duties as required by the Nursery Manager or Deputy Nursery Manager within the scope and spirit of the role.
- To be flexible within working practise of the nursery and be prepared to help where needed as a team player; including undertaking domestic jobs within the nursery e.g. Preparation of snacks, cleaning equipment, putting bins out etc.
